Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman of Media Committee Tanvir Ahmed Titu said Mahmudullah Riyad has a slim chance of being included in the World Cup squad. However, if one of the backup players gets injured, he is likely to be included.
Mahmudullah was not included in the Asia Cup squad as the team management wanted new talents to be given a chance ahead of the World Cup in India.

“A player gets into the national team and has to leave at one time. So it definitely goes through a process. If at the World Cup, the team management feels that Riyad is needed to replace a backup player who is injured, then maybe they will add him,” said Titu.

15 Mar 25Titu feels that all cricketers have an end at some point, but he acknowledges Mahmudullah's significant contributions to their country's cricket team.
“Mahmudullah Riyad's contribution to Bangladesh cricket cannot be denied and never will be. Since, Mahmudullah came to the team, he will be excluded from the team at some point according to the rules. It is sad but true. That's the rule. This is how the world works,” he added.
The 37-year-old last played in the ODI series against England at home last March. He was dropped from the Ireland series since then the all-rounder was away from the national team setup. He already retired from Tests and T20Is.
