The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is open to the possibility of Ben Stokes returning to the ODI World Cup in India.
England coach Matthew Mott told Daily Mail Sport if skipper Jos Buttler make a special request to his fellow teammate Ben Stokes it could be possible.
“Jos will probably lead the way on that communication, but Ben Stokes fairly forthright with all of us. We’ll check on his interest,” Mott said of Stokes.

“There has not been a clear direction on what he’s going to do yet, but we are still hopeful. I’ve always said his bowling would be a bonus, but just look at what he brings with the bat, even in the field,” he said.

Ben Stokes played a crucial role in England winning their maiden ODI World Cup title in 2019, starring in the dramatic final against New Zealand at Lord's.
Stokes hit an unbeaten 84 and also held his nerve in the first-ever Super Over in the World Cup. Stokes shone in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022, helping England beat Pakistan and clinch their 2nd title in the shortest format of the game.
However, Stokes retired from ODI cricket in July 2022, citing workload concerns after he took over as the Test captain from Joe Root.
