Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has postponed their ODI captain announcement for the upcoming Asia Cup, cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed on Tuesday.
Jalal revealed that the board president Nazmul Hassan Papon will declare the new captain on August 12 with three candidates Shakib al Hasan, Litton Das, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the line.

“You know that we had an emergency meeting today. One of the reasons for calling the emergency meeting was about the captaincy. Originally, there was talk of selecting the captain for the Asia Cup. We sat in the board meeting today,” Jalal said to the media.

After that, Jalal said that the responsibility of selecting the captain has been transferred to the head of the board.
“We all elected the honorable board president to select the captain, we gave him the responsibility to elect the captain. He will now deliberate and talk to the few possible candidates and finalize the decision. Hopefully, we will be able to give the details before August 12,” Jalal added.
Jalal also said that the new captain might be available for the Asia Cup only and further decisions on who would lead the side in the New Zealand series followed by the World Cup would be taken later.
