Galle Titans beat Dambulla Aurain in the Super Over on Shakib al Hasan’s all-round prowess as Galle posted 180 runs for 5 wickets and later, Dambulla stopped at the same score after losing 7 wickets.


Bangladesh star Shakib made his debut in the Lankan Premier League (LPL) with this match. After scoring 23 runs from 14 balls with the bat in his first match, the star all-rounder of Bangladesh took 1 wicket after conceding 25 runs in 4 overs.


Captain Dasun Shanaka surpassed Shakib in the match. Batting first, he played an innings of 42 runs off 21 balls. He took 3 wickets with 27 runs in 4 overs with the ball in hand. Naturally, the man of the match award went to him.


Losing the toss in Colombo, Lasith Croospulle returned cheaply. Shevon Daniel and Bhanuka Rajapaksa led the team as Daniel scored 33 runs off 26 balls with 2 fours and sixes.

When Rajapaksa got out after playing an innings of 48 runs off 34 balls, Shakib came to bat at number five in the thirteenth over.


Shakib stormed over Dhananjaya de Silva in the fifteenth over, hit a six through deep extra cover on a spectacular inside-out shot. He took the next ball with a great slog sweep to deep mid-wicket for another over boundary.



While scooping the ball from Shahnawaz Dahani in search of a quick runs, he pulled the ball to the stumps.


In the chase, Shakib was brought in to bowl in the fifth over. He got off to a good start with the help of the wicket. Only 2 runs came from the first three balls but an over-throw cost Shakib a boundary in that over.



After the end of the power play, Shakib came on the attack again in the eighth over and gave only 4 runs with his tight bowling.


The second ball of the thirteenth over and his third, Sadeera Samarawickrama touched the outside edge to Tim Seifert. Shakib only gave 25 run in his allotted four overs.


In the end, Kasun Rajitha gave away 14 runs in the 18th over and 15 runs in the last over, the match saw a tie.


However, Rajitha nailed down a superb over. And Rajapaksa hit a couple of lusty blows to finish it off the target of 10 runs in the super over.
