Bangladesh starboy Towhid Hridoy shined in his debut match for Jaffna Kings against Colombo Strikers in the opening game of Lanka Premier League (LPL) on Sunday.
Kings beat Strikers by 21 runs at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo,
Hridoy scored a magnificent half-century (54 off 39) while batting at number four to assist his team reach 173 for five against Colombo Strikers after 20 overs.
Niroshan Dickwella's Colombo sent Jaffna to bat first after winning the toss.
Towards the end of the power play, Hridoy came out to bat at number four, and he managed to keep the innings moving forward in the middle overs.
Hridoy came down to bat and Charith Asalanka got out shortly after he got in the wicket. The pressure was on Hridoy to shape the innings and give the team a run to fight for. He did that job well.

After adding 24 runs for the third wicket with Priyamal Perera, scored 41 runs in the fourth wicket partnership with Perera.
Then Dunith Wellalage made a 50-run partnership with Hridoy for the fifth wicket.
He scored 54 runs off 39 balls with 4 fours and 1 six before getting out by Chamika Karunaratne.
Hridoy’s was the highest run innings for Jaffna. Wellalage scored the second highest unbeaten 25 runs off 23 balls.
Colombo started well in the chase with Niroshan Dickwella punishing in the power play but regular wickets hurt them.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam went early and that was a big wicket.
Hardus Viljoen and Dilshan Madushanka bowled hard lengths into the wicket and a couple of soft dismissals hurt Colombo in the middle.
Too much to do for Chamika Karunaratne at the end and the asking rate brought wickets.
The leg-spin of Vijayakanth Viyaskanth very impressive during the middle overs too as he got two wickets. Hardus grabbed three wickets, while Madushanka got two.
Another Bangladesh pacer Shoriful is in the Strikers squad but didn’t find his spot in the playing XI today.
