Tamim has been suffering from a back injury for a long time which forced him out of the lone Test against Afghanistan. However, he returned to play the ODI opener of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan despite not being 100% fit.
In return, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon showed dissent to his decision and criticized him. Following that Tamim made a shocking retirement announcement in a press conference.
Then, he reversed his retirement plan after the intervention made by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina within 29 hours and was given mental break for 1.5 months.
Tamim's return to international cricket remained doubtful for prolonged injury and he is expected to sit with the board officials after returning from the UK and will decide about his plans after the meeting.
