Bangladesh will have to play two group stage matches in this year's Asia Cup held in two countries, that too in just two days, in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Bangladesh will also have to play in two different countries in a gap of two days if they reach the Super Four. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier given a condition to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that there should be sufficient break before playing matches from one country to another but this is not reflected in the Asia Cup schedule.
Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in Kandy on August 31 and will play their second game against Afghanistan on September 3 in Lahore.

Jalal Yunus, BCB’s cricket operation chairman, was irked about the journey schedule but admitted that there is no way to avoid travel fatigue.

“We have to go to Lahore after playing the first match. Nothing to do. Another match on the 3rd [September] after the 31st [August]. To make the journey comfortable, ACC has decided that the teams will travel by chartered plane,” Jalal said.
“Travel is impactful. If you travel by air, you have to go 2-3 hours before, carry luggage. There is also the matter of mental preparation. And Pakistan is very far from Sri Lanka. Since ACC's decision and everyone is participating... we have to accept it too” he added.
Last year the tournament was played in Twenty20 format but the 2023 edition will be held in 50-over format as the teams prepare themselves for the upcoming One Day International World Cup, set to be held in India in October-November.
