Asia Cup schedule released as Bangladesh to start tournament on August 31

Asia Cup schedule is out and the much-awaited tournament will start from August 30, a day prior to what was decided earlier by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The opener will be played in Multan between Pakistan and Nepal.
The tournament will follow a hybrid model with Pakistan hosting four matches across two venues and Sri Lanka hosting the remaining games.
Bangladesh will start their campaign against Sri Lanka on August 31 in Kandy, Sri Lanka and Tigers are slotted to play Afghanistan on September 3 in Lahore, Pakistan.
A total of 13 matches will be played in the tournament. Pakistan are grouped with India and Nepal in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in Group B.

The iconic clash between India and Pakistan is set for September 2 in Kandy.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage with the top two teams in this phase advancing to the final.
Regardless of where the teams finish in the first round, Pakistan will remain A1 and India A2, while Sri Lanka will be B1 and Bangladesh B2.
If Bangladesh qualify for Super 4s as B2 they will face host A1 Pakistan in Lahore on September 6.
In case Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the Super 4s, they will take the slot of the team knocked out.
