Sri Lanka A defeated Bangladesh A in the opening match of Emerging Asia Cup on Thursday at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo as the hosts won the match by 48 runs.
Bangladesh A, under the leadership of Saif Hassan, were bowled out for 301 in 48.3 overs in response to Sri Lanka A's 349 for eight.
Mohammad Naim and Saif's fifties gave Bangladesh A momentum, but the batters were unable to capitalize on their start.
Rakibul Islam's 36-ball 40 and Bangladesh’s most iconic player Soumya Sarker's 46-ball 42 were both helpful, but Sri Lanka tightened the screws to win the first game.

Pacer Pramod Madushan and leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha both took three wickets.

Batting first, Sri Lanka put 349 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, thanks to Avishka Fernando's century and Minod Bhanuka's half-century.
Avishka and Lasith Croospulle scored 51 runs in the opening partnership. Crosspulle was out for 31, Mahedi Hasan grabbed the wicket.
