After a sudden retirement, Tamim Iqbal stole the limelight in the Afghanistan series with a dramatic comeback. Despite many incidents, he decided to return to the game, but there is uncertainty about whether he will be seen as captain again.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus said that they will be able to clear everything after Tamim returns from England after treatment.

Tamim earlier stunned not only the Bangladesh cricket fraternity but the entire country, when he announced his shock retirement from international cricket at his hometown against the backdrop of the Tigers' One Day International series against Afghanistan.

But Tamim has withdrawn his retirement after meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Since then BCB did not say anything on this issue. Jalal appeared in the media after the series at Chittagong Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday.

“Tamim is going to Dubai, from there he will go to UK on 25th or 26th July. He has an appointment at two medical centers in London, the doctor will see him. Will update me on what is happening from there.” Jalal gave update on Tamim’s plan.

BCB will give an initial squad for the Asia Cup. Whether Tamim will be there will be clear after the medical checkup, “We will have an initial squad of 25-26 very soon. For this, Tamim’s medical fitness will be important. Then we will understand when he will join.”

If Tamim returns before Asia Cup, will he be the captain? The operations chairman could not give a clear answer to that question.

“Let him come first, we are discussing with him. He has fitness issues. He said he’ll talk about it after his return,” Jalal added.
