Not only in the ongoing ODI series over Afghanistan, Bangladesh batter were seen to suffer against Afghans bowlers in the three-match ODI series at the same venue last year. Bangladesh won that series but this series Bangladesh have paid the price against visitor’s strong bowling side.
This year's performance is worse than last time. In the first match, Bangladesh's innings stopped at 163 runs for 9 wickets. Chasing Afghanistan's 331 runs today, Bangladesh all out for 189 runs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who came to the press conference as the representative of the team after the match, was asked why such a batting-collapse against the Afghans again and again.

“To do well against the Afghan bowling, you have to play a team game. Batsmen have to take responsibility. Have to score big. Big scores are easier when top batsmen get runs. Two wickets are falling in a row and that’s why there isn’t any big partnership” Miraz explained.

Fazalhaq Farooqi claimed 3-22 and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 3-40 as Afghanistan bowled out Bangladesh for 189 in the 44th over.
The victory makes Afghanistan just the second team to win an ODI series in Bangladesh in the past seven years after world champions England.
However, Miraz believes this series loss won’t make them a bad team and vowed to recover the mistakes before the Asia Cup and World Cup.
“Unfortunately if a series goes bad, then we are not going to be a bad team. Our record is very good. A series can go bad. We did well in the World Cup qualifiers (World Cup Super League), won a lot of matches, are in the top four there in terms of points. We have played well in the last three-four years. We will go to the next big tournament to correct the mistakes we have made in these two matches,” he added.
