The development was confirmed to Cricfrenzy by the chief selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Minhajul Abedin Nannu on Thursday.
Rony, who made his debut with the Ireland series was included as the backup opener for the remainder of the series. The sudden change was made after ODI captain Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Tamim decided to quit International cricket in the midway of the Afghanistan series which startled the cricket fraternity and eventually the team management.
