Bangladesh A Women’s team beat Pakistan A Women by 6 runs in the semi-final to reach the final of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok, Hong Kong.

The game was reduced to nine overs due to persistent rain at the venue. Bangladesh set up a tough fight to restrict Pakistan to 53-4 while chasing 60 runs, thanks to Rabeya Khan’s two wickets and Nahida Akter's economical figure.

The Tigress took quick wickets in the middle to put pressure on Pakistan A and they lost complete control in the close match. Skipper Fatima Sana promoted herself in the batting order but she also couldn't get her team over the victory line as she could stitch only 10 off 8 balls.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh managed to score 59-7 in nine overs. Nahida Akter top-scored with 21 off 16 balls aided by three 4’s and a six.

Bangladesh's batting line-up was crushed by the bowling attack of captain Sana and Anosha Nasir as the Tigress were slumped to 16-6 at a point. Then, Nahida and Rabeya stitched a 37-run partnership which helped them to muster a good total.

Sana was the leading wicket-taker with three wickets and Nasir grabbed two while Umm-e-Hani took one wicket for Pakistan A.

Bangladesh advanced to the semi-final as the group B champions with a win against Malaysia Women while the other two matches were abandoned due to rain.

Meanwhile, the rain interrupted the other semi-final between India and Sri Lanka as well, luckily India were elevated to the final being the group champions of group A.

Bangladesh A will now take India A in the Asian event's final on June 21 at the same venue.
