Bangladesh on the driving seat after Day 3 as Afghanistan are reeling on 45-2 at stumps, still required 617 runs in the ongoing one-off Test match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Tiger pacers Shoriful Isalm and Taskin Ahmed ripped through the batting lineup by removing openers Ibrahim Zadran (0) and Abdul Malik (7) early with the help of the new ball.
Taskin struck captain Hasmatullah Shahidi (13) on the head with a bouncer that forced the latter to leave the ground being retired hurt.
Bangladesh declared their innings on 425-4, setting a record target of 662 runs against Afghanistan after Mominul Haque scored his 12th Test century.

Mominul was unbeaten on 121 and Liton Das scored 66 runs before declaring their innings.

Afghanistan toiled hard but could only take three wickets in two sessions, including two wickets in the same over off leg-spinner Zahir Khan.
Zahir scalped the prized wicket of centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto (124) and Mushfiqur Rahim in the same over. Mushfiqur (8) began with a six soon after coming to the crease but an attempted reverse sweep in the next ball brought his downfall as Ibrahim Zadran took the catch at slip.
Bangladesh resumed on 134-1, overnight batter Shanto reached another Test ton in the second innings after his scintillating knock of 146 in the first innings against Afghanistan.
The left-handed batsman became the second Bangladeshi batter to score back-to-back Test hundreds. Shanto registered his fourth Test ton in 115 deliveries.
Zakir Hasan, the other overnight batter, however failed to reach a hundred as he got run out. The Bangladesh duo made 173 runs before Zakir was run out for 71.
Bangladesh scored 382 runs in the first innings and bowled out Afghanistan for 146.
