Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan was disappointed and taken aback for not getting a chance in the pool of 26 cricketers for the upcoming series and ODI World Cup.
Sohan’s recent performance in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) was convincing enough, scoring 511 runs in 15 matches in the 2022-2023 season. However, the national selectors didn’t include him in the pool of 26 cricketers even after such a performance.
Sohan was a regular face in the middle-order of the national team, however, he couldn’t meet up to the expectations as his performances were meek.
While talking to the media, Sohan said, 'I think I did not play so bad that I won’t get a chance in the pool of 26 cricketers,”

“Maybe the team management had other plans. Maybe I was not picked due to the combination. It doesn't matter much to me. I have some time and will work more on my mental, physical, and skills. So that I can come back better,”

"I have been playing for the last 7-8 years. Looks like there's more room to work on me, to come back stronger. It's a good thing. I can make myself better this time,” he added.
Cricketers like Afif Hossain, Naim Sheikh, Shamim Patwari have been called to camp after their DPL performances. The wicket-keeper batsman said that despite regular talks with the selectors of the national team, there was no discussion about the exclusion.
