Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has joined the practice sessions on Thursday with the national team as they prepare for the upcoming series against Afghanistan.

The ace all-rounder is expected to be sidelined for a period of six weeks, forcing him to miss the one-off Test match against Afghanistan.

Despite being ruled out of the Test match, Shakib's presence at the practice session on Thursday was a positive sign for both the player and the team.

The 35-year-old immediately resumed his training and started working on his fitness. He was also seen to talk with the head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. The absence of Shakib Al Hasan from the one-off Test match against Afghanistan will undoubtedly be felt by the Bangladesh team.

However, Shakib is set to return in the white-ball series and will make a decisive impact during the limited-overs matches against Afghanistan, which include both three ODIs and two T20Is.

The one-off Test will be led by Litton Das in absence of regular captain Shakib al Hasan. The match will commence on June 14.
