Shahadat Hossain Dipu has been admired for his perfect batting technique and batting temperament since age-based cricket. Now he is on edge of showing his potential as he was called up for the one-off Test squad against Afghanistan.
Today [Monday] was the first day he trained with the national team. Every camera lens were trying to capture the thrill of the young batter making it to the national team for the first time.
“Everyone was congratulating. It looked good. Everyone dreams of playing in the national team. I had the same. I'll be happy, naturally. Everyone dreams of playing in the national team. I feel happy too. Day by day I can improve, that will be the effort.” Shahadat said to the media after the practice session.
Shahadat was a member of the 2020 U-19 World Cup winning team. His team mates Shoriful Islam, Mahmudul Hasan, Shamim Hossain have already played for the national team.
Shahadat, however, was busy building himself at that time, “I didn't think about all those things. I thought, when my time will come, I will try to play well.”
When asked about his cricketing skills, he replied, “Everyone says my skills are good. But I think you need to be mentally stronger to play here. I will try to improve my skills day by day. I will try to be stronger mentally. That's my job. I think the more I improve in these things, the easier it will be for me to play.”
