The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday confirmed three appointments, including Pakistan head coach, team director and a former journalist, who is also an analyst, to the national men's selection committee, which will select senior, Shaheens (A-team) and U19 sides.

The new selection committee comprises Haroon Rashid (chair), Hassan Cheema (selection committee secretary and manager analytics and team strategy for national men's side), Mickey Arthur (national men's team's director), and Grant Bradburn (national men's team's head coach).

In a significant development for Pakistan cricket, Hassan Cheema, the strategy manager of Islamabad United, has been added to the national team's selection committee.

Cheema served as the strategy manager of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League for a long time. He has also worked as a data analyst in various franchise leagues worldwide.

Cheema also worked as a cricket writer before taking charge of Islamabad. He wrote various reports on Pakistan cricket regularly for almost five years on renowned cricket websites ESPNcricinfo and Cricbuzz.

Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon said he wants to understand what Bangladeshi journalists feel about the team, and why and how they would select the players they chose.

Papon asked the journalists for World Cup eleven and said, "Now the media is talking about cricket the most. We are happy with that. You guys are so involved, it helps us too. We are also happy with social media, but many people there seem to have no idea about cricket and are still commenting."

"All of you here know more about cricket than I do, there are a lot of people. I am thinking of asking you to name who makes the best XI. Then see what you say. Wouldn't that be great? I'd get to know what you think, who should be played." BCB president jokingly said.
