Akram rates Shanto-Litton as future captains

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and former captain Akram Khan believes Najmul Hossain Shanto-Litton Das possesses the quality to captain the Bangladesh cricket team in the future.
Bangladesh are set to host Afghanistan for multi-format series, starting with the one-off Test on June 14. However, regular captain Shakib al Hasan won’t be able to lead the side due to a finger injury which he incurred during the Ireland Tour.
Shakib’s absence created a vacancy for the captaincy position, Akram feels there are five to six candidates who are being considered for the position.
“'It is completely the board's decision. The board will decide who will be the captain or not. They are future players (Shanto-Litton). Some players have captaincy qualities, they are among them,” said Akram.
“We have 5-6 candidates for the position. It depends on the current captain, selector, and coach. They will decide together. He will pick the best individual for the role,” he added.
Bangladesh is getting a long break before the series against Afghanistan. Akram sees it as an opportunity for the cricketers to take a break and prepare well for the upcoming series. He also remained hopefull for Shakib's return.
"We have a busy FTP so the more rest we get the better it will be for us. You see, BPL was played, the foreign tour and all, it will be good if there is a Test match. Shakib's return would be the best. He got time,” he added.
