Ireland were the 'official' hosts for the series but the presence of Bangladesh fans in the three matches at the County Cricket Ground in Chelmsford was telling a different story. Bangladesh team landed on Tuesday after clinching the series 2-0 as Najmul Hossain Shanto said it didn’t feel that they’ve played outside the country and the series will help in India World Cup.

Although receiving such support for the Bangladesh team outside the country is not a new thing, it may be a new experience for many players of the team.

“I liked it very much. I didn't feel like I was playing outside the country. There were many spectators, they were always supportive. Always enjoy things like this,” Shanto said about Chelmsford's visitors.

It was the last bilateral series outside the country before the World Cup. After the first match was washed away by rain, Bangladesh chased down 319 runs to win the second match, scoring a thrilling 5-run victory in the last match with a score of 274 runs.

In India there will be not see such conditions in the World Cup. However, Shanto, who scored his first ODI century in this series, thinks that the type of two matches they’ve played will help the team in the World Cup.

"We chased 320, I think it was very important. (Again) the match we defended. Both matches are important for the World Cup,”

“Such situations can come up in the World Cup. (Especially) against big teams. I got two kinds of feelings—how to chase or defend. It will be good for the team if we can play the next match keeping this thing in mind,” player of the series Shanto explained.

The team's performance in such a win against Ireland seems to be the biggest to Najmul’s personal achievements, “I think we played good cricket as a team. All the time everyone tried to contribute for the team. It was a very good experience. If we can hold it, we can do better in the future” he added.
