Bangladesh Women suffered a 7-wicket loss against Sri Lanka Women in the second T20I at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.


The host chased down the below-par target of 101 runs with seven wickets and nine balls in hand. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapathuthu top-scored with 33 runs in 27 deliveries including six boundaries and a six.

Harshitha Samarawickrama played the second highest knock scored 29 off 42 balls while Fahima Khatun scalped a couple of wickets and Rabeya Khan took one wicket for Bangladesh.

While batting first, Bangladesh openers Shamima Sultana (18) and Rubiya Haidar (16) started on a positive note but Inoka Ranaweera broke the opening stand of 28-runs by bowling Haider out.


Shamima and Sobhana Mostary tried to form a partnership after the early blow but the host responded quick and returned Shamima to the pavilion. Following the dismissals, the visitors could not recover from that stage and kept losing wickets at a regular intervals.



Bangladesh lost the wickets in quick succession and managed to muster only 100 runs in 18.3 overs. Sugandika Kumari was the pick of the bowling attack for the Sri Lankan side as she took two wickets for 14 runs in four overs.
