All-rounder Shakib al Hasan hailed his long-time teammate Mushfiqur Rahim for scoring a century in the second ODI against Ireland, but he believes it would have been better for Mushfiq if they had won the match which was washed out due to rain.

Mushfiqur struck an unbeaten 60-ball 100, hit 14 fours and two sixes that propelled Bangladesh to their highest ODI total. Nevertheless, the second innings was not played due to heavy rain in Sylhet, hence the match ended in a draw.

With this fine knock, he also became the third Bangladeshi batter to achieve the milestone of 7,000 ODI runs. Mushfiqur also registered the fastest century, surpassing Shakib's 63-ball century record.

"It would have been nice to win, especially for those who played well. I think it would have been better for Mushfiq Bhai. But the rain is not in our hands." Shakib said in a program on Tuesday.

In praise of Mushfiqur's record-breaking innings, Litton said yesterday [Monday] that he had not seen such a century during his career in the national team.

"It's great to see. To be honest, for as long as I have been playing, no Bangladeshi player has scored such a century in the latter part of the innings. It is better if the seniors do it. Of course, the innings played by Mushfiq Bhai was worth watching. I think his innings was better looking than mine," said Litton.
