Chennai Super Kings have signed South Africa fast bowler Sisanda Magala as a replacement for the injured Kyle Jamieson.
The New Zealand seamer Jamieson was signed for INR 1 crore at the mini-auction in December but experienced a recurrence of a lower-back stress fracture just before the Test series against England last month. It's anticipated that he won't play cricket for several months, including the upcoming IPL.
Jamieson had only played in one IPL season prior to being signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 15 crore in 2021, making him one of the most expensive foreign purchases ever made at auction. He only managed 65 runs at 16.25 in nine appearances, taking nine wickets at a 9.60 economy rate.

Magala, Jamieson's replacement, has prior experience competing in the game's shortest format. Although he has only played in four T20 Internationals for South Africa, he has a history of regularly taking wickets in local T20 matches.
He took 14 wickets for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in 11 innings during the recently concluded SA20 season at an economy rate of 8.68. He will sign on with CSK for the base salary of INR 50 Lakh.
