Robin Das, a 19-year-old English cricketer, captured the attention of fans worldwide when he came onto the field as a substitute fielder in place of Matthew Potts in the first Test between England and New Zealand at Lord's in June last year.
The interest was especially strong among Bangladeshi fans, who later learned that Robin is of Bangladeshi origin because his father was born in Sunamganj, Sylhet.
The right-handed batter will now look to test his skills in Bangladesh after being drafted by Dhaka Dominators of the Bangladesh Premier League for the current season.

Despite his Bangladeshi connection, Robin said his aim was to play for England.
“My dream is to play for England, but we will see. I'm not going to close any doors for the future. But definitely the dream is to play for England. It's the country I'm brought up in. I play county cricket for Essex, so I feel like this is the country I want to play for in the future, if possible,” Robin said for the first time to Bangladesh media on Monday.
Despite the fact that the Essex batter will be playing for Nasir Hossain's Dhaka, he revealed his favorite cricketer is Bangladesh's Litton Das as Robin said Litton is one of the best players in the world.
“He's an exceptional player. He's been probably Bangladesh's best player for all three formats in the last year, and I think he's actually one of the best players in the world. He's a player that inspires me a lot. I look up to him,” he said.
