New Zealand Women secured a 37-run victory over Bangladesh on Sunday, clinching the T20 series with a match to spare at the University of Otago Oval, Dunedin.


Bangladesh managed to score 111-8 in 20 overs while chasing a modest target of 149 runs. Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty was the highest run-getter for Bangladesh, as she scored 32 off 34 aided four boundaries.

Earlier, New Zealand opted to bat first. Amelia Kerr scored an unbeaten 46 off 30 and Maddy Green 37 off 25 to put together the best partnership of the match. Their 77-run stand lifted their side to a respectable total of 148 runs.


Marufa Akhtar took two wickets while Ritu Moni and Rumana Ahmed scalped a piece each.


The third match is in Queenstown on Wednesday afternoon, followed by three ODIs between the sides.
