Australia's Test captain Tim Paine has recently come into the limelight after he commented over India's win against Australia last year during their 2020-21 tour of Australia. He had to face a lot of backlash for his comments as well. India won by 2-1 too.
Notably, India had played without many of their key players as they sustained injuries whereas Virat Kohli was on paternity leave and he returned home after the first Test where India were bundled out for only 36 - their lowest ever score as well.

But, the Australia Test captain Tim Paine has also revealed that he respects India captain Virat Kohli. “For Virat Kohli, I’ve said many times, he seems the type of player you would love to have on your team,” Paine said on the Gilly and Goss podcast. “He is competitive, he is the best batsman in the world.”
He again shared that Kohli is a player whom he will never forget. “He is challenging to play against and he can get under your skin because he is so good and he is so competitive. But yeah, for me from where I came from, sharing a feud with him four years ago, He is certainly someone I will always remember,” he said.
On the other hand, while clarifying his comments on the Indian team which he did earlier, Tim Paine has said that it was one of the several things he had commented on and that he also gave credit to the tourists for outplaying them as well.
“I did say that they simply outplayed us and that they deserved to win but they left that one out. The Indian fans have been slamming me on social media. They say that I’m making excuses again but it’s all good fun,” Tim Paine concluded.
