The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen many things - be it swashbuckling centuries, five-wicket hauls against the mighty Mumbai Indians or some stunning captaincy from a few young and talented skippers including Rajasthan Royals' Sanju Samson.
On the other hand, leading a team in the league is not easy as the team comprises overseas players as well. And, England's Jos Buttler praised his IPL team's captain Sanju Samson, who led Rajasthan Royals in the recently-suspended IPL 2021 for the very first time.
It is also noteworthy that, he took over the responsibility from Australia player Steve Smith, who has played for Delhi Capitals this season and bought at the IPL 2021 mini-auction as well. Jos Buttler has said that Sanju Samson has done well in the tournament before it was postponed owing to the COVID-19 situation as well where Samson was the highest run-getter as he scored a century and hit 277 runs in 7 matches as well.

“It was a great learning experience for him. And I think, as the tournament was going along, at the halfway stage, he was really growing into the role, looking to put together some better, more consistent performances towards the end of the season as a side,” Jos Buttler said in a virtual interactive session arranged by the Royals.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, who scored 124 off 64 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, stated that he enjoyed playing under Sanju Samson too.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing under Sanju’s captaincy. I don’t think it changed him at all as a person. He’s quite a free spirited, very relaxed kind of guy and he tried to get that across to the team and that’s how he wanted us to play as a side. It is really important as a leader to be authentic, and I think Sanju is very much that,” Buttler concluded.
