Justin Langer Says New Players in Hunt for Spots for the Upcoming England Tour

Australia will choose the best playing XI in their upcoming tour against England where they will play the white-ball series next month. However, players can win the place in the playing XI by doing their best in intra-squad warm-up games, coach Justin Langer told on Thursday.
Australia has named a 21-member squad for the T20I and ODI series in Southampton and Manchester owing to the difficulties of flying in amid the crunch time of global pandemic novel coronavirus outbreak. Uncapped players - Josh Philippe, Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith has been named in the squad too.
“When it comes to picking our first 11, we’ll still be picking our best 11,” he told reporters in a video chat.
He further added, “That’s how it’s always worked well in the Australian team. And for some of the younger guys, if they force their way in through some of their performances in the practice games, that’d be great. It’ll just be nice to have them and give them a feel for what it’s like to be around the Australian cricket team.”
While the series will begin on September 4, it will mark their first international series after nearly six months break due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, India are scheduled to play four-match test series in Australia from December as well.
“There’s going to be some give and take, that’s for sure,” he said.
“The compromise might be that some of our best players might have to miss some international cricket so they can spend some time seeing their families,” he concluded.
