Bangladesh Twenty20 skipper Mahmudullah said that finisher, who bats and number seven and eight, should have a clear mind and unselfish approach to excel in the shortest format of the game.

Bangladesh is struggling to find a suitable finisher and tried many cricketers in the role but none could fill the spot permanently.

‘’I think having a clear mind is important for the players who will bat on this position. Have to play unselfishly with remembering the team. For the sake of the team, even one has to sacrifice his own wicket and so having that mentality and with a clear mind is important otherwise if you can't play having that freedom then there will be less chance to succeed,’’ Mahmudullah told Tamim Iqbal during and Instagram live session on Sunday.

During their T20 series against Pakistan they opted to see if Soumya Sarkar could fill the role at number seven and send him down the order though he failed to deliver making 5 and 7 runs respectively.

In the following T20 series against Zimbabwe at home host opted to see how Afif Hossain and Saifuddin can adapt to the finisher role but the ploy did not succeed as none had the chance to bat in both the games.

Earlier Mossadek Hossain and Sabbir Rahman were front runners for the role but despite giving repeated chances none of them could grab the spot and make it their own.

Mahmudullah, who is known to be the best in the country when it comes to finishing the game off in the shortest format, feels that there are certain cricketers who can take the role of the finisher but added that foremost thing that is required to excel in the specific position is to have a clear mind along with the mentality to sacrifice his wicket.
