Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan said on Thursday that they have decided to hold the players draft for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League on November 12.
BCB boss sat with some of his directors at the BCB head quarter to discuss about the upcoming BPL that is expected to be organized all by BCB as they have decided not to hold the Twenty20 tournament with franchises.
‘’We have no plan to shift the date [of BPL that is scheduled to start on December 6] We have a tour in Pakistan, so keeping that in mind we have to finish it in time. But it depends on security team’s decision. They have left yesterday. Depending on their report. If our team go there, we have to end it before that,’’ Nazmul told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
‘’Because we are arranging an opening ceremony, it may change one or two days, but we are not confirming it now. We are preparing for December 6.

Draft date is initially decided on November 12. Because we have matches till November 10 in India. So we have decided a tentative date on November 12,’’ he said
‘’We sat together to discuss today (Thursday). There were some discussions on some topics and one of them was about the current situation of BPL. And we have seen that 393 players have already registered. And the layers usually see in BPL, all of them are enlisted. And apart from that, 38 foreign coaches have applied. And we have nine sponsors, they have shown their interest. And the player’s selection for the teams will be decided through draft. It’s the team’s decision; we have nothing to do there,’’ he said.
Nazmul said that their main job at the moment is to create a support staff while added that the wages might differ in the upcoming BPL.
‘’What we need is to create support staff. We will appoint a board director with each team; he will be responsible with the team. There will coaches; it might be from foreign or local. And along with that, we will need physios, trainer and computer analysts. All of these, will be finalized within two days at least the management- I have asked them to do. Then we will decide the players for all the teams by drafting. I cannot say who is going to play for whom. So there is nothing new to do. The way we have been doing, we will as the way. I hope it will be fine,’’ he said,
‘’We have decided one (criteria). It won’t be as past because BCB is doing this but it won’t be so high like past but it won’t be bad. I can’t say it now, I have seen it toady but there might be some adjustment. So far what we have seen, there is no much change than before but slightly less (than before),’’ he said.
Nazmul said that they are thinking of employing local coaches in BPL though earlier it was stated that all the teams will be runs by foreign coaches
‘’It will depend on two things. There is no reason that they can’t become head coach (in BPL). The thing is that, the team sponsors, directors and management will decide that. They will have their preference, they will have their options. We are not making anyone anything to do. 38 foreign coaches have applied, but we have just seven spot for head coaches. Whether all the coaches will be foreigners…the sponsors will have some role to play in selection process. Maybe we or our director will have more authority in best 11-player selection (for the teams),’’ he said.
