The new season of Bangladesh cricket will start in less than 10 days' time. There is lot of cricket to be played in the domestic circuit with NCL starting on the October 7. And three women tournament scheduled to be happening in the next couple of months.
But the way the number of games in domestic and international cricket at all levels has been increasing, the grounds committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has to struggle to accommodate the games.
Normally there is lot of shortage of grounds in Bangladesh and the facilities in some grounds are not up to international standard. When any international teams come to play here they have to play their matches in some grounds. Each year, the BCB is opening new windows for teams, for whom new leagues and tournaments are being launched.
This year, three tournaments will be making their maiden journey, compounding the crisis further. It is learned from BCB sources that the Board's women’s wing will organise three more tournaments for women cricketers in the new season. The women’s wing plans to hold a BCL-like tournament for women cricketers as part of the longer version of cricket. This is the first step to getting Test status from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

A lot of cricket is played during a very specific time period has compounded the problem as cricket is not played in our country during the summer time because of the rainy season.
When the country premier twenty-20 competition BPL happens the other entire league is also being called off, because all the players remain busy playing in this global competition for their respective franchise.
With cricketing activities increasing, the grounds committee has an uphill task to accommodate all matches.
The BCB has appointed two additional foreign curators. They are working with the existing curator, Gamini de Silva, besides local curators, to prepare wickets on BCB-controlled grounds, especially those recognized internationally.
Currently, Bangladesh has eight internationally-recognized grounds, such as Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and M. A Aziz Stadium, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Khulna’s Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Bogura’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium and Rajshahi’s Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium.
