Bangladesh Young all-rounder Afif Hossain said that he was planning to play his natural game in order to rescue his team from the verge of despair against Zimbabwe in the tri nation opener at Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

As Bangladesh looked to taste another shambolic defeat, young Afif came up as rescuer and smashed a brilliant 26 ball-52 to help Bangladesh recover from a shaky start to beat Zimbabwe by three wickets.

His brilliance also led Tigers to make a winning start to the T20 tri-series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday, breaking jinx of perpetual defeat jinx.

‘’I was planning to bat my natural game,’’Afif told reporters after the game at Mirpur.

‘’My plan was to bat according to the situation,’’he said .

The match was delayed by 1.30 hours due to wet outfield and reduced to 18-overs a side after which Zimbabwe posted a challenging 144-5 and sensed a victory, leaving Bangladesh at 60-6 in 10th over.

But 19-year old Afif , playing only his second match, counterattacked in style as Bangladesh reached 148-7, overhauling the target in 17.4 overs.

‘’Momentum really changed when I hit a couple of boundries.they tires to attack me on the first ball and I try to attack them,’’said Afif.

‘’I always prefer to play in my way and everybody encourage me to play that way,’’ he concluded.
