Afghanistan new appointed skipper Rashid Khan said on Wednesday that they are well aware that patience will be key as they prepare to take on Bangladesh in the lone Test match, scheduled at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from September5.
While Afghanistan is more known for their exploits in the shorter formats they are yet to make a mark in the longer formats despite picking a Test win only in their second Test match.

‘’Patience is the main thing in Test cricket and that will be tested on each and every player. It’s not only about us and every player who plays the game will be tested. It doesn’t matter either you play 200 games or 300 games and I think once you come to the field everything looks to you changing and you have to start from zero. So everyone’s patience will be tested. We are ready for that. We had the best preparation for the Test cricket and Insallah we can only give our 100 per cent and do our best,’’ Rashid told
‘’As I have said before, we are new to the format. It’s not something in the third game or the fourth game is beating someone like Australia. Once we get the momentum and once we get the proper condition, we can beat any side at a day. As we have seen here in Bangladesh, they beat Australia here. And once you get the condition you can beat any side,’’ he said.
‘’But for experience you need more games in this format. Once you have the more games, I think you will become a proper Test player. Right now we have played enough T20s and ODIs and we have the experience of that so as the knowledge,’’ he said.
‘’We know what to do in these formats in any conditions, any formats. But in Test match, it’s not something happening to you and it takes time and takes matches and takes years. Insallah the quicker we learn the better it will be for us,’’ he said
