Bangladesh High Performance chairman Naimur Rahman believe that it is the right time to introduce rotation policy as that will help them develop their future.
Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan's calls for workload management yet to get any official validation despite it is turning out to be the norm followed by the international team in the present day.
However, Tamim Iqbal's decision to skip the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan and the subsequent Twenty20 tri-nation also involving Zimbabwe only suggests that time is not far Bangladesh to make a policy that will emphasize on keeping the legs of the seniors fresh.
More than anything else it will help the selectors have a look at the possible replacement of senior cricketer by seeing how the youngster respond when they are exposed at international level.
Naimur, the first-Test captain of Bangladesh, who is currently holding the post of HP unit where the future national prospect are groomed, believe it is the right time to introduce rotation policy.

‘’Rotation policy must be introduced,’’ Naimur told daily sun when his attention was drawn about the importance of rotation policy.
‘’We need replacement for important players for future, like Shakib. If we have good potential player as his replacement for future, we can give him the field experience, letting play some matches. And players can get injured too. So this policy has always been there and should be made stronger. There are some series where you can introduce new players resting the seniors. I think this is a high time to think about that,’’ he said.
‘’They will get the chance when we will arrange the matches. Like, we have a series for HP against Sri Lankan Emerging Team, then we have a tour in India for five matches. So there HP players can show their ability. Selectors also observing their development. So we are trying to create the platform for those opportunity and if the players can use the opportunity properly, they will have their chance,’’ he said.
Naimur added that there is no point makings such hue and cry when senior cricketers ask for rest despite the fact it is not a culture very common country’s cricket landscape.
They should take it normally. Sometimes players ask for rest on their own. Like before the World Cup some players were on rest, now Tamim is on rest,’’ said Naimur.
‘’So players should also understand when they need rest, and if they understand that, that’s good for them too,’’ he said adding that current ODI’s skipper Mashrafe should understand when to quit from the international cricket with his head held high.
Mashrafe has once again left the BCB hanging about his future as he wants two months more to think about his future despite being aware that the board was planning to host a one-off farewell game against Zimbabwe for the ODI captain but the plans have now been shelved.
BCB had recently announced Bangladesh will host Afghanistan in a one-off Test, followed by a tri-nation T20I series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in September.
They were planning to host the ODI either in between the Test and tri-series or following the two series' to give a farewell to Mashrafe.
‘’Few players get the same cordiality from the board for their retirement and I think rightly so because it is the responsibility for the board due to the fact he is such a huge player,’’ he said.
‘’But it is also a responsibility for the player to decide when he is going to retire,’’ he concluded.
