Bangladesh domestic cricket calendar may get disrupted as BKSP decided not to provide both the grounds used in this purpose in immediate future.
BKSP and BCB had an MOU agreement that ran until December 2018 where it was stated that BCB will be able to use ground 3 and 4 for their own purpose for five years, starting from 2013.
As a result BCB spent quite a sum of money to renovate the grounds where they ran the domestic leagues from different tiers along with first-class cricket.
However, BKSP refused to extend the contract citing that the only sports institute of the country had a big Women’s project in hand and as a result they have to dedicate the number four ground for women’s purpose only.

‘’Look, we have already a plan (women’s ground) for this. BCB will take the final decision whether it will be four or the other ones. But so far what we know is, we will dedicate the fourth ground for Women’s complex,’’ BKSP chief coach Masud Hasan told reporters after coming out from the meeting with BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury at the BCB premises.
‘’No, we did not talk over (contract) extension. But, because BCB uses the field and the facilities, so if BCB wants to extend the deal they might come to the terms considering their profit and loss (from the deal),’’ he said.
‘’Yes there are competition factors and some other factors for BCB. So if the deal take place, BCB can say it properly how it will be done, we can’t say it. And because a women complex is being built under government’s authorization, which will also be a mega project for BCB. So BCB has decided to dedicate the fourth ground for Women’s complex. So far BCB has been using the fourth ground for Premier League and National League but now when a big project is under process, they has to show the ground belongs to Women. That’s why BCB has decided that the ground will be under Women’s Complex,’’ he added.
It was learnt BCB was offered to renovate the number two ground for cricket purpose but that looks hardly possible due to the drainage system.
A BCB official on request of anonymity told CRICFRENZY that they have asked BKSP authority to acquire them some land so that they can make a new ground.
It is difficult to renovate number two ground for different reasons so in that case if we cannot extend our deal further BCB need to help us into acquiring some land so that we can make a new ground,’’ said the BCB official.
We have spent huge amount of money behind developing the two ground and we just cannot stop playing there without getting something where we can host the matches that we used to play there,’’ he said.
‘’In that case BKSP can help us to acquire some land and later we will develop it in future,’’ he said.
