Former Australian captain Steve Waugh said, the Ashes is too close to call this time. Two teams are well balanced and some great players on both sides. The Ashes of 2019, will start from 1 August and two teams have announced their final squad for the Ashes. Waugh believes, both sides have 50-50 chance in this Ashes.
" Both sides have 50-50 chance," Waugh said when asked who will win the Ashes.
Australia will look for their first-ever Ashes away series win in 18 years. Last time the Aussies won against England it was back in 2001 and Waugh cap captain in that time. Waugh believes there were some series where Australia could have won but they didn't, the same goes for England too.

"We've come up against some really good England sides in those last 18 years. We've had some tight series and moments when we could have won the series, probably a bit like the other way round for England in that period where they lost a lot," Waugh added.
England are current World Cup champions, they have also beaten Australia in Semifinal. But Waugh said White-ball and Red ball crickety are totally different. What happened in the World Cup will have nothing to do in the upcoming Ashes series.
"One-day cricket is irrelevant to Test cricket," he said.
"They're different teams, different captains. It's a different sport really. If you compare Test cricket and one-day cricket you're almost not playing the same sport. It's played in a totally different way," he concluded.
Australia are the current holder of the Ashes as they had beaten England last time 4-1 in their own backyard. The first Test of Ashes will be held on August 1 and it will be played on Edgbaston.
