Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed expressed his disappointment at missing the World Cup, stating that he was unlucky not to make the final cut.
“I had a dream and I wanted to play in this World Cup as I was at my very best in BPL. I was taking my preparation very well too. But at the last moment luck betrayed with me,” Taskin told the Cricfrenzy.

Taskin was the form of his life in the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), taking 22 wickets in just 12 matches.
Following his red-hot form, he made a comeback in the national team for the bilateral series against New Zealand but he again got injured in his ankle in a match against Chittagong Vikings which ruled him out from the series.
And this had a bad impact as he didn’t recover fully during the time when the World Cup squad was announced. He was left crying after World Cup snub, which the people of social media outlet took emotionally and demanded Taskin’s place in the team, citing the reason that the fast bowler will be fit by the time when the World Cup would begin.
Taskin then was included in the Bangladesh’s tri-series squad. Rumours were rife that he could be included into the World Cup squad but Abu Jayed Rahi, who was the replacement of Taskin in the World Cup squad, claimed five wickets against Ireland in a tri-series match to completely dent Taskin hope to comeback.
“They had their trust but the situation was such that they couldn’t include me. I think this is the reason. When Rahi was picked for the World cup squad I wasn’t fully fit. But there was a plan to include me. At the last moment, Rahi took five wickets. How they will then exclude him at that moment,” Taskin concluded.
