Bangladesh lack quality and depth in their squad in comparison with the big guns of cricket, like Australia, England, India, New Zealand, admitted team's head coach Steve Rhodes. Having said that Rhodes has no qualms about the ability of the Bangladeshi players.
"I think if you look al the teams in this competition, we have a right to be on those fields competing against some of these big teams. But we are still well short of the depth and quality of some of these teams as well. But I'd say that we do have some wholehearted, trying cricketers. We also have some great ability. ” Rhodes told the Cricinfo.

But Rhodes believes that this squad is improving. Bangladesh have some exciting young players in their squad. Some of them are performing well in this World Cup, like Soumya Sarker, Liton Das, Mehedi Miraz,Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin and Sabbir Rahman. Steve Rhodes praised them in the interview and he believes their performance has given Bangladesh more depth in the squad.
"Soumya is finding his feet. Liton [Das] is in good form, although he is not playing. Sabbir [Rahman] with that hundred in New Zealand, and [Mehidy Hasan] Miraz has been bowling in the last two or three years. Nobody mentions [Mustafizur Rahman] Fizz, and Saifuddin has come through. So I do think we are starting to get a little bit more depth." Rhodes Quoted.
Bangladesh started well in this World cup by beating South Africa in their first match. But that faded away after losing back to back matches against New Zealand and England. But Bangladesh were hurt more in the washout against Sri Lanka as that was an important match and Bangladesh was expected to win regarding their recent record against them.
Bangladesh will play their next match against West Indies on 17th June, Rhodes will want the Bangladesh team to fire with all cylinders as they will face a very good West Indies side. To progress into the semis its also a must-win game for the Tigers.
