Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Gazi Group Cricketers snatched points beating their opponents in their respective Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2019 matches held today in three different venues.

Al-Amin Hossain’s ton was ruined by the all-round brilliance of Farhad Reza as Prime Doleshwar clinched its second straight victory, securing a five-wicket victory over Prime Bank Cricket Club in a high-scoring match of the Dhaka Premier League on Tuesday at BKSP-3 ground. While Captain Raqibul Hasan led from the front as Mohammedan Sporting Club recorded their second successive win, edging Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity past by four wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Elsewhere, at Khan Shaheb Osman Al Stadium in Fatuallh, Gazi Group Cricketers registered their first victory, beating BKSP by four wickets.

Prime Doleshwar vs Prime Bank

Al-Amin Hossain struck his fourth List A century to steer Prime Bank Cricket Club to a hefty 301-8 but it was not enough to win the match as Doleswah rode on three half-centuries and a whirlwind knock from Farhad Reza to gun down the target with 10 balls to spare.

Opener Saif Hasan continued his rich vein of form, hitting 85 that gave Doleshwar solidity. He got an ably support from Marshall Ayub with whom he shared 115-run for the third wicket stand to set the tune.

Saif Hassan was dismissed after hitting five fours and three sixes in his 85 off 102. Ayub struck seven fours in his 82 ball-76. With asking run-rate increasing alarmingly, Pakistan recruit Saad Nasim and Farhad Reza plundered the Prime Bank bowlers in all part to sail the side home quite comfortably.

Nasim’s 47 ball-64 was studded by two fours and five sixes while Reza remained unbeaten on 15 ball-35, that included three fours and two sixes.

Reza also scalped 2-43 in bowling, that included the wicket of opener Anamul Haque, to prevent Prime Bank from a brisk start.  But Al-Amin Hossain and Indian recruit Sudip Chatterjee combined for a 110-run partnership for the third wicket stand to lay a platform of a big total.

Al-Amin hammered 111 off 99, clattering eight fours and four sixes while Chatterjee’s patient 57 runs knock was designed with two fours and a six.

Brief Score:

Prime Bank: 301/8

Al Amin 111, Sudip 57; Sunny 2-34, Farhad 2-43

Mohammedan vs Khelaghar

Mohammedan off-spinner Sohag Gazi was instrumental in wrapping up Khelaghar for 225 in 47.3 over after which Mohammedan reached the target, making 228-6 in 49.2 overs, albeit a middle-order hiccup.

Skipper Raqibul Hassan provided the impetus in batting, as he helped the side canter to the victory with 88 ball-84 not out, an innings clobbered by eight fours and one six.

But Mohammedan got off to a good start in pursuit of the chase, thanks to opener Abdul Majid (40) and Avisek Mitra (27). Once Tanvir Islam dealt a double blow, dismissing two openers in the space of three balls, Khelghar sensed a chance.

It was quickly evaporated by the well-composed knock from Raqibul. No. 6 batsman Nadif Chowdhury hit 39 to help the captain overhaul the target.

Most of the Khelaghar batsmen got the start but just couldn’t convert it to a big score. Mosaddek played a handy 87 runs knock but he lacked support from another end to guide the side towards a safe zone. Sohag Gazi’s 3-41 was complemented by pacers Alauddin Babu and Qazi Anik’s two wickets apiece.

Brief Score:

Khelaghar: 225

Mosaddek 87, Amit 37; Gazi 3-41, Anik 2-19, Babu 2-42

Mohammedan: 228/6

Raqibul 84*, Abdul 40; Robiul 2-41, Tanvir 2-41

No. 6 batsman Touhid Tareq was the highest scorer for the side with 76 not while Abu Haider played a fluent 24 ball-32 not out. Despite the openers failed to chip away with any significant contribution, No.3 batsman Mahedi Hasan struck 73 ball-70 with nine fours and one six to set the tune.

Mahmudul 85, Aminul 63*, Shamim 44; Haider 2-46, Rabbi 2-52
