Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah rued for dropping catches as he believed that cost them dearly in the second Test at Wellington on Tuesday.
Bangladesh fluffed two chances of Ross Taylor in one eventful over bowled by Abu Jayed and that proved to be the decisive moment of the Test.

Jayed forced an uppish drive off the first ball of the over only for the fielder at cover[ Mahmudullah] to put down a sitter. To make matters worse, just two balls later, Shadman Islam dropped a chance in the slip cordon.
Taylor eventually made them pay by scoring a double hundred while their bowlers struck to their strength to help them earn their second successive Test win in the series.
“I dropped a catch and there was another drop in the slips. Had we caught those, the bowlers might have gotten their confidence back. These are the mistakes we need to sort out,’’ Mahmudullah said at the post-match.
Mahmudullah added that their batsmen need to apply better. “Very disappointed, we could have done a lot better. We are much better than we feel. There was some help with the new ball, we should have applied better,’’ said Mahmudullah.
“Going forward, we need to adapt as soon as we can,’’ he said. “We need to back ourselves to cope (against the short balls). We lost too many wickets. Looking forward to the next game and will try to put a better performance,’’ he added.
