Former national spinner Mosharraf Hossain is planning to visit Singapore in the coming days as he is diagnosed with a brain tumour last week.
“I have applied for the visa and an appointment has been set at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore,’’ Mosharraf told cricfrenzy.
“The doctors said the tumour is at a very primary stage and if it can be removed successfully by an operation that should be able to cure me,” said Mosharraf Sunday.
Mosharraf came to know about it during a medical check-up that revealed he has been diagnosed with glioma, a type of tumour that starts in the glial cells of the brain or the spine.

BCB physician Debashish Chowdhury said that they had advised him to go through a check-up during the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League after learning that he got fainted without any major reason.
“Severity of the tumour can only be understood once the biopsy is done following the operation. “So far, the reports suggest that the tumour is at a primary stage but after all, it is a tumour in the brain so it is very sensitive.”
Some senior national cricketers like Shakib al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have already contacted him for giving him mental support and according to the 37-year spinner, it means a lot to him.
“Tamim sent a voice message along with text message from New Zealand and asked me not to worry as he knows quite a few people in Singapore,’’ said Mosharraf.
“He told me that just to let him whenever help is required and these kind of gestures are giving me mental confidence,’’ he said.
“I will leave as soon as I get the visa. What is giving me relief is that the tumour is at an early stage. My family had completely broken down but now I think they are feeling a little better,’’ he added.
Mosharraf, who played five ODIs for Bangladesh, will soon apply for financial help from cricket’s governing body of the country.
According to the seasoned domestic campaigner, he will require at least Tk 40 lakh to complete the operation while expenses will increase if further follow-up is needed.
