Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club stunned the mighty Shinepukur Cricket Club by 9-wicket in their opening match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2019 held today in Fatullah. Doleshwar opener Saif Hasan struck an unbeaten 83, added unbeaten 119-run partnership with Farhad Hossain (66) that put his side up to grab the target of 176 for 1.  

Earlier, Shinepukur were bowled out for 175 in 47.1 overs. Doleshwar bowler was also complemented by some superb fielding as Shinepukur found them in hot water from the beginning of the game. However, Shinepukur got the early blow when the left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny made the first breakthrough by removing their opener Sohrawardi Shuvo for just 5.

Then, Farhad Reza appeared in the stage as Towid Ridoy and Dhiman seemed to set them in the crease. Farhad got the better of Ridoy who scored 33 before cleaning up the tail. Delwar Hossain battled lonely to be unbeaten on 40 but was key in propelling the side past 150 runs mark. Farhad took 3-32 while Arafat Sunny grabbed 2-31.

In reply of the mediocre target, opener Shykat Ali along with Saif added a 57-run partnership in the opening stand. Shykat dismissed by Sohrawardi Shuvo for 23. After then, Saif and Farhad patiently dealt the Shinepukur bowlers to guide the side to the win.

Saif hit 83 off 132 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes. It was his 11th half-century in the List A cricket. Farhad’s 66 came off 91 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and an over-boundary.
