Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is mulling with the idea of introducing live streaming in the upcoming edition of Dhaka Premier League, said Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed on Wednesday.
Umpiring standards in the Bangladesh domestic cricket continue to be dubious, with questions raised every other day and it was no surprise that it remained a major talking point ahead of the DPL, country’s prestigious club-based 50-over competition.
Bangladesh Sports Journalist Association arranged a seminar in this regard at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium to raise these issue among different stakeholders of the game that is considered to be next to religion in this part of the world.
Over the past few seasons, allegations of biased umpiring in favour of certain Dhaka clubs connected to the cricket board have flown thick and fast. The complaints haven't stopped even this year, and, what's worse, there have even been allegations of certain clubs being bullied by match officials in Dhaka's lower leagues.

“We will try to introduce live streaming in the upcoming DPL,’’ said Inam, chairman of the cricket committee of Dhaka Metropolis, the BCB body that administers all cricket leagues in the capital city including the DPL,
“We are aware that there are issues regarding the standard of umpiring and the BCB president has said that he wants the league to conclude properly. We will always try to improve the quality of umpiring,’’ he said.
“BCB president firmly believes that we need to make all the domestic competition free from biased umpiring,’’ he said.
Club organizer Riaz Babu said that it was quite disappointing to see the current state of affair in the lower tier as now a day more than the opponent each team is concerned who will be officiating the match.
“I am not sure whether my club will face any consequences for speaking in this platform,’’ said Babu, an official of Kalabagan Cricket Club. But if the way we are running the show continues than I can only assure you it will not take long for the game to be doomed,’’ he added.
Inam added that they will be using cameras in all the venues. Following the charges, Kazi Inam Ahmed, chairman of the cricket committee of Dhaka Metropolis, the BCB body that administers all cricket leagues in the capital city including the DPL.
"There weren't many complaints about umpiring last season, but whenever there was one, the (committee) has spoken to the [BCB's] umpires' committee repeatedly. We asked the umpires' committee to give good umpires in every game.
It was observed that clubs try to use their muscle power as different clubs from different tiers are entitled to have a councillor in the BCB who are expected to play a big role in the BCB election.
