Australia’s Steve Smith went under the knife after being forced out of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on January. But he is recovering quickly and ready for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on March 23, the former Aussies skipper announced it with a video in his official Instagram page on Thursday.

The video shows that Smith is hitting balls in the nets. Smith wrote:  "Great to have my first hit back today. The elbow is feeling good!"

However, the 29-year-old is widely expected to be recalled to the Australian squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup in England in May. Steve Smith and David Warner will be eligible for selection from March 29, meaning they are free to play the final two games of next month's five-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan in the UAE.

Australia’s head coach Justin Langer said that the both- Steve Smith and David Warner should be ready for the IPL.  "From all accounts they should be ready for the IPL, which is really positive. Dave’s probably a little more advanced but my understanding is they’ll be ready to go in the not-too-distant future,” said Langer. But, Warner has not yet said anything.

Meanwhile, Smith will play for Rajasthan Royals, while Warner is part of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
