Gayle to retire from ODIs after World Cup: Cricket West Indies

West Indies legend Chris Gayle announces his retirement from the one-day international (ODI) cricket after the upcoming World Cup in England, confirmed Cricket West Indies (CWI).
The West Indies Cricket board wrote on their official Twitter account, "WINDIES batsman Chris Gayle has announced he will retire from One-day Internationals following the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 England & Wales."

Gayle is the second-highest ODI run-scorer, behind his former teammate and another Caribbean legend Brian Lara. The 39-year-old opener has scored 9727 runs including 23 hundreds and 49 fifties in his 284 ODIs since his debut in 1999. Besides, the Caribbean played 103 Tests and 53 T20s for his country.
Meanwhile, his highest score in ODI, 254 against Zimbabwe during the World Cup 2015, is the first double-ton in this event. Even, He is the only player in cricket history who knocked a triple-ton in Tests, a double-ton in ODIs and a century in T20Is. His highest Test score is 333 while the highest T20 score is 117. His average in ODIs is 36.98, 42.19 in Tests and 33.48 in T20Is.
He was announced as the Player of the Champions Trophy 2006 for his amazing performance. He scored a total of 474 runs during that tourney, slamming three tons and taking eight wickets in eight matches. However, the Jamaican will face England in 5-match ODIs which will kick off on February 22.
