Bangladesh want to bounce back in the second match and want to keep alive their hope of a series win in New Zealand. The visitors will lock horn with the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday at 4AM (BST).
Earlier, Tigers were outclassed by New Zealand in the first ODI in Napier. Bangladesh showed a poor batting display as they lost their top six wickets in 96 runs. Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim failed to show their worth. However, Mohammad Mithun and Mohammad Saifuddin tried to resist for Bangladesh that finally led them to 232.
On the other hand, Martin Guptill hit an unbeaten 117 that took the home side to a 1-0 lead in the series. Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza believed that the poor shot selection mainly causes the batting failure of Bangladesh.
However, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz still believed that said they can still win the series in New Zealand. “I still believe that we can win this series. We have to win the last two matches, so the Saturday’s match is most important for us,” he said to the reporters on Thursday.

Bangladesh may includ the experienced fast bowler Rubel Hossain in the playing XI. They may also take Saifuddin as a second pace bowler.
Mehidy believed that spinners can play a crucial role along with the bowlers. “I think spinners can help the pacers. Spinners don’t get much turn. The wicket isn’t supportive for spin. But we can try to reduce runs as low as possible. I think bowlers may get more wickets in this way. Spinners can help the pacers for taking wickets.”
The all-rounder further said that the team is now depending on fast bowlers. “Spinners are helpful at home, but, here we are relying on the pacers. Obviously, we can do better, if we have Shakib vai here. We can get more confidence. Now, I have to play the main role here.”
However, according to the stats, Bangladesh have played a match in Christchurch and lost by 77 runs in 2016. New Zealand scored a total of 341 while batting first with the help of Tom Latham’s 137. Tigers managed just 264 in 44.5 overs and lost the game by a big margin.
