Minhazur Rahman claimed 9 for 65 to seal Bangladesh under-19 teams’ 8-wicket win over England under-19 in the first Youth Test at Chattogram on Sunday. The hosts led series 1-0.


Minhazur Rahman, who became the man of the match, claimed 3 for 37 in the first innings and 6 for 28 in the second innings. However, England boys started the day five with 89 for 6 in their second innings.  Their two nightwatchmen Hill and Hollman started with trailing the hosts by 29 runs. The pair added 45 runs before Hill was sent back to the pavilion by Minhazur Rahman.  He added 32 runs before the lbw, which was the highest second inning score for England in this Test.


After then, Minhazur removed Hollman for 29 runs. The left-arm spinner stroke again and picked up Hamidullah Qadri (5) and Finch (4). England posted 152 all out (84.3 Overs) in the second innings and set a target of only 35 runs for Young Tigers. Minhazur Rahman claimed 6 for 28 while Asadullah Galib picked up 3 for 30.


With the target of 35 runs Bangladesh received a blow on the first over of the innings as Tanzid Hasan bowled by Flinch for the duck. Hollman removed the other opener Amite Hasan for 10 runs. After then, Shamim Hossain and Parvez Hossain Emon ended the game and remained unbeaten with respectively 20 and 6 runs. Bangladesh scored 40 for two and clinched the match.


After winning the toss England chose to bat first and scored 280 all out. Charlesworth scored 99 off 248 balls and Balderson scored 65 runs off 135 balls for the visitors.  Rubel Ahmed claimed 4 for 71 and Minhazur claimed 3 for 37. 


In their reply, Bangladesh declared their first innings at 398-9 in their first innings.  Parvez scored 62 off 148, Towhid 61 off 138, Skipper Akbar Ali 82 off 97 and Shahadat Hossain scored 84 off 114 for the home side.

Trailing by 118 runs, England lost George Balderson (10) early in their second innings with the score on 20-1. Ben Charlesworth (17) alongside Lewis Goldworthy (12) took the score past the 50-run mark. But Asadullah removed Charlesworth, Goldsworthy and Jamie Smith (0) in quick succession to leave the visitors stuttering at 58-4. England lost two more wickets of Lammonby (12) and Dan Mousley (four) at the end of the day four.
