Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes is proud with the achievement against West Indies at home as they were left shell-shocked after the humiliation in Antigua in July.

The Caribbean side embarrassed the Tigers last July when they inflicted a similar result in their own backyard by defeating Bangladesh through a clear margin that began with a humiliation at Antigua when the visitors were bowled out for 43 runs.

Bangladesh utilized the payback chance well at home as they also whitewashed West Indies and their victory in the second Test is their first-ever win by an innings margin.

Overall, it is their 13th Test win and the second instance of them winning three Tests in a calendar year, after beating Zimbabwe 3-0 at home in 2014. Overall, it is their fourth series win – two each against Windies and Zimbabwe.

“Look we have put a lot of hard work since Antigua and I know the acid test is going to be one week when we go again in abroad and how we do away from home,” said Rhodes.

“Coming away with a victory against West Indies in the Test series no matter whether its home or away condition is a very special effort.

“So I am very proud of the boys. You know we were shell-shocked in Antigua and we were hoping to do something similar here in Bangladesh against the West Indies,” he added.

Bangladesh spinners wreaked havoc through the Windies batting lineup as the 40 wickets taken by spinners is the most for a team in a two-match rubber, bettering the 38 scalps taken in the series against England in 2016.

Mehidy leads the pack with 15 scalps followed by 10 for Taijul and nine for Shakib while off-spinner Nayeem Hasan helped himself picking six wickets on his debut series.
