West Indies stand-in captain Kraigg Brathwaite rued for wrong shot-selection which he thought caused their downfall in the second Test and paved the way for them to be whitewashed at the hands of Bangladesh for the second time.
Bangladesh indeed registered their first-ever victory by innings margin, when they grabbed a victory by an innings and 184 runs over West Indies. This was also West Indies’ seventh worst defeat in their history.
“It was very disappointing. Our bowlers did a good job but the batting let us down,” Brathwaite said on Sunday after the second and final Test.

“Some of the shots wasn’t the best. Most of the games we were 30-odd for three. It put the batting order under a lot of pressure. It wasn’t good for us at all.”
Apart from Shane Dowrich, none of the Windies batsman could play even 100 balls. Shimron Hetmyer was the other one who faced 92 balls.
“I can’t blame the wicket. Some of the shot-selection wasn’t good at all, especially yesterday evening,” Brathwaite said.
The West Indies skipper didn’t have any reservation to blame himself also as he was out for 0 and 1 runs in the Test and was dismissed in first over in both times. In July he was the West Indian batting linchpin as struck two centuries in the series to help the side whitewash Bangladesh. But from the series against India, he was not in his best form.
“I am very disappointed. I didn’t have a good series in India so I was looking to lead the batting. But it didn’t happen. I have to keep strong and try to lead the batting in the next series,” he said.
