||Desk Report||

Walton Central Zone’s batting lineup spluttered like an old banger against BCB North Zone’s clinical bowling on the first day of the second round in Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).

Abdul Mazid (76), Shuvagoto Hom (48), and Mosharraf Hossain (34) tried to keep their side in the fray, but Ebadat Hossain – who is potentially on the radar of the national team – bagged a six-wicket haul to restrict Central Zone to 220 runs.

Mohor Sheikh triggered a collapse in Central Zone’s batting lineup on his BCL debut, as he removed Liton Das for 3 runs.

Central Zone were four down for 24, before Mazid and Shuvagoto shared a 91-run stand. Following the partnership, they again kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

In reply, North Zone finished the first day’s play at 72/1, with each of Mizanur Rahman and Farhad Hossain unbeaten on 30-odd runs.

They, too, suffered an early blow as Junaid Siddique was undone by Shahidul Islam for 2 runs.

Central Zone came into the second round winning their opening game against South Zone. An exciting clash seems to be on offer as they will look to fight back strongly while North Zone will also try to repeat their batting performance from the first round.
